HIIC commissioned training

We offer commissioned training for organisations/agencies who would like to train up to 12 of their staff in one go. This is very cost effective at a total cost of £3000 for statutory organisations and £2000 for voluntary/community sector organisations (This is not the same for online training, please get in touch for online costings) Please ensure you have fully read becoming a tutor before progressing.

What you need to know

With a commissioned course you get:

  • 2 days tutor training

  • Half a day tutor follow up support (email/telephone)

  • HIIC Pack Part 1 x 12 (choice of generic or youth pack)

  • Course materials x 12

  • Tutor assignments assessed (normally an additional £30 per participant on top of the tutor training costs)

  • Access to Tutor Hub  – this holds on-line copies of HIIC Part 1 & 2; HIIC Youth Pack; Short Courses and HIIC tutor support material. This also gives tutors automatic access to all materials as they are updated.

You need to supply:

  • A contact person who coordinates between CHEX and the organisation and is responsible for recruitment of participants in a timely fashion and in forwarding pre course emails on to participants.

  • Venue, with a room large enough to allow small group work to take place

  • Supply flipchart, flipchart paper and projector

  • Supply tea and coffee for participants (and preferably supply lunch as time is quite tight during the training)

Things to consider

  • HIIC tutor training assumes that participants already have a good working knowledge of community development and have experience of small group work and/or delivering training. HIIC tutor training is not community development training for staff. It equips individuals to deliver HIIC by enhancing and developing existing skills.

  • To become an accredited tutor, participants have to do practice delivery of 8-10 hours. So, you will need up to 12 groups that participants can do their practice with. It is always a good idea to encourage participants to identify a group they could work with before coming on the tutor training. We do encourage participant to co deliver as this can enhance learning for both parties, this still means that at least 6 groups must be available for participants to work with to allow them to complete their portfolios.

  • There is pre course reading required and a portfolio to complete after training so accreditation of tutors can take time (up to 6 months or more).
